March 5, 2021 Update

Happy Friday! One more week until everyone gets to enjoy a well deserved Spring Break.

A friendly reminder that we have Parent-Teacher interviews on Tuesday, March 9, 2021 from 5:00-7:00 pm. Parents can book appointments by emailing the teacher and setting up a phone conversation or a Zoom video meeting. An email went out earlier this week with teacher emails. There is one correction to the email addresses. The correct email address for Ms. Ricki McCrae is  Here is a direct link to teacher email addresses on the NISS website:

Youth Clinic with the Public Health Nurse has been rescheduled now to Monday lunch hours (originally Tuesday) in room 202.

Students who take the BC Aurora ferry home during the day before the regular scheduled return trips are required to have a ferry pass for boarding. Ferry passes can be picked up in the office once a parent/guardian has excused the student to leave school early. We also would like to take this time to remind parents and guardians that any student who leaves school early needs to be excused. This can be done by calling the school at 250-956-3394. This is a safety precaution and helps in case of an emergency.

Before Spring Break, we will be providing an update of Spring Break activities for youth and a list of social/emotional supports in case of need.

Fun activities next week: Grade 8 students will be going on a field trip to Cluxewe on Thursday March 11, 2021.  Other grades have field trips being organized for the future. On Friday March 12, all students will be invited to a hot dog luncheon.

We acknowledge the work communities are doing to keep COVID at bay. Please continue to stress the importance of following COVID guidelines at school so that we can continue to have schools open for youth.

  • Stay home when sick
  • Physically distance
  • Wear masks when interacting with others and moving around classrooms and common spaces
  • Wash/Sanitize hands

We wish everyone a wonderful weekend.
