Update March 12, 2021
Spring Break has arrived and we hope everyone has a fun, relaxing and safe Spring Break. It was one year ago that we received news about the pandemic and at this point we would like to extend a huge thank you to all families, students, and staff for their resilience and patience during these times.
There are lots of things to look forward to this coming spring at NISS. The newly renovated science rooms are ready to have classes in them. Before the end of the year, we will have an official opening, even if it has to be virtual. The previous science rooms were part of the original school dating back 50 years. We now have the most modern high school science rooms in BC- we look forward to learning in these new spaces.
NISS sports’ teams- new team name and logo. Over the last few years, we have been working with students to come up with a new name for NISS sports’ teams and students have voiced that they want the name “NISS STORM”. So in April we are planning a logo design competition. Any student who would like to enter a logo that represents “NISS STORM”, can do so in April. We will choose the winning logo on April 30th.
Grad is around the corner and plans are well underway. Meetings happen once a month, but more may be planned based on individual committee needs. We will email out updates to grade 12 parents and post them on the NISS website under the grad 2021 tab.
We recognize that breaks from school can sometimes be tough on some, so we will be including a list with the various community supports and activities that are planned for youth this Spring Break.
We wish everyone well and we’ll see you back in school on March 29, 2021.
