Due to Health and Safety precautions, North Island Secondary School will be closed to staff and students on Friday April 9, 2021.  The reason for this closure is a serious plumbing issue.

At the end of the school day on Thursday April 8, 2021 there was a blockage in the sewage pipes.  Although the maintenance teams and outside contractors are working hard to fix the issue there will still be the clean up job and airing out of the school to occur.

Have a safe weekend.  We expect school to resume as normal on Monday April 12.

Superintendent of Schools

Note from NISS administration:

NISS students and families

NISS will be closed tomorrow, Friday April 9th, due to an unexpected plumbing situation. Health and safety of our staff and students are of utmost importance, thus we are required to close the school as we deal with this situation.

While at home tomorrow, please encourage the student(s) in your household to catch-up or get ahead on their school work. Many teachers have assignments available via google classroom.

We anticipate that this plumbing issue will be fixed over the weekend and we will be open again on Monday.

Thanks for your patience and understanding.
